Cultural Organizing 101

Registration is closed for this event
A two-part workshop that covers the basics of cultural organizing, and it includes topics such as: What is cultural organizing?, How can art and culture be used in service of collective liberation, values of cultural organizing campaigns, and drafting the cultural organizing campaign?.

We are living in a time in which we are experiencing the harvest of white supremacy culture. Our communities are experiencing climate disasters of increasing severity, profit margins are created off of the well-being of workers during a global pandemic, and it is clear that we need to plant new seeds so that we can reap a different harvest. At PeoplesHub, we center our work in the 4 R’s, Resilience, Resistance, and Re-imagination, and Restoration, that we believe makes movements and our communities healthy.

Culture is a vital component of all of those. How can we use art and culture to transform our communities and uproot cultures of supremacy? Cultural organizing is the strategic use of art and culture to shift policies and practices with marginalized communities and views art and culture as vital to collective liberation.

The Cultural Organizing 101 workshop is a two-part workshop that covers the basics of cultural organizing, and it includes topics such as: What is cultural organizing?, How can art and culture be used in service of collective liberation, values of cultural organizing campaigns, and drafting the cultural organizing campaign?.
